Automating Military Status Affidavits for a Law Firm
DIRC engagement. Delivered by Do IT Right Consultants LLC.
Overview
On many of its cases, a law firm has to confirm whether a party is in active military service under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and file the certification with the case. The firm was preparing these requests and filing the results by hand, one case at a time.
The challenge
Each request had to be pulled from the firm's business operating system, compiled into the format an SCRA status request needs, and the returned certification uploaded to the right case in the firm's portal. Done manually at volume, it was slow, and small transcription errors meant rework on documents where accuracy matters.
The approach
- A tool that reads requests from the firm's business operating system and parses the case details
- Automatic compilation of those details into a complete SCRA request
- Automated upload of the certifications to the matching case in the firm's portal
The outcome
- A significant improvement in accuracy on SCRA requests
- A much lighter manual workload on every case
- Certifications filed against the right case without retyping
