IT consulting for multi-site operations: waste, logistics and field services

The situation

Waste haulers, logistics networks and field-service companies run dozens or hundreds of locations, and most of them grew by acquisition. Every acquired site arrives with its own network, its own phone vendor, its own way of closing the books and a server in a closet. Head office ends up running a federation of small IT shops and calling it one company.

The cost shows up in three places. Reporting takes a week because every site's numbers have to be reconciled by hand. Support is uneven, so the farthest yards get the slowest service. And security is only as good as the weakest site, because one shared account at a depot can reach everything.

What we do here

We bring sites onto one standard: one identity, one network pattern, and a repeatable site build, so the next acquisition lands on a checklist instead of a project. Telecom, internet and other site vendors get consolidated where the savings are real. ERP and finance data get pulled into one reporting model, with location-level detail kept intact. The support model gets standardized so a site three states away gets the same service as the one next to head office.

Our founder led distributed IT operations across a national footprint of more than 200 sites in an earlier in-house role, so the work is familiar ground.

Where to start

Start with a fixed-price discovery, sized to the job. For a multi-site operator, we sample a handful of representative sites, from head office to the farthest yard, review identity and vendor sprawl, and trace how numbers travel from a site to the monthly report. The written read-out gives you a site standard, a consolidation list with estimated savings, and a reporting plan, each one priced. You decide in writing what goes ahead. After that, some clients keep us on as a fractional CIO to steer integration as new sites are acquired.
