Creating a Real-Time Supply Chain Analytics Dashboard
Prior experience. Our founder, Derrick Schmenk, led this work in an in-house leadership role before it was a DIRC client engagement.
Overview
A manufacturing organization needed faster visibility into supply chain and operational performance. Teams were making decisions from disconnected systems, delayed reports, and manual extracts, making it harder to identify problems before they affected production.
The challenge
Operational data was available but not usable. Information was spread across business systems, production workflows, and supplier data. Teams needed fast answers: which orders or materials are at risk, where delays are forming, and which metrics to watch daily.
The approach
- Custom API integration with operational and supply chain systems
- SQL database design for reporting and analytics
- Data cleansing, transformation, and business rule development
- Dashboard-ready views for real-time operational monitoring
- Exception reporting for issues requiring attention
- Scalable architecture for additional data sources and KPIs
The outcome
- Real-time visibility into supply chain and operational activity
- Custom data integration through APIs and SQL
- Reduced manual reporting and data preparation
- Faster identification of operational exceptions
- Better coordination across supply chain, production, and management
- A flexible analytics foundation for future dashboards
